In this episode, Associate Professor James Maguire talks about the climate impacts of digital infrastructures with a point of departure in the arrival of Big-Tech’s datacenters to Denmark.

In this talk, James opens up for a more expansive understanding of digital infrastructures by pointing towards the regimes of material, energy, and governance resources needed to sustain them as well as how they are interconnected with surveillance forms of data capitalism.

ITU Climate Talks are a series of short research videos (5-8 minutes each) by faculty members from all three ITU research departments.   

Due to infrastructure updates in week 27, there will be periodic issues with networks and systems.

Monday July 4: Updates of ITU’s WAN connections will likely cause problems with Wi-Fi for up to 3 hours from 8:30 am.

Tuesday July 5: Cable maintenance on each floor may cause issues for up to 30 minutes.

Friday July 8: Maintenance of the cooling system between 8 and 12 will limit operation capacity, so you may experience slow or unresponsive systems.
