The goal is to produce a special issue on the theme of Welfare and Digitalization in a Challenging Era: Everyday Public Services, International Collaboration and Emergency communication.

Short News
A warm welcome to three PhD Students, Safra Martinussen, Kamila Anna Dzierzak and Nicklas Ravn, who are from the TRACE project and have joined CDW. All three started their PhD journey on the 1st of April this year and work together to deliver new and insightful knowledge on the digital transformations that are underway in contemporary health and social care practices.
  • Safra’s work engages with adolescents’ self-care practices with type 1 diabetes technologies.
  • Kamila’s project investigates technology-mediated relational practices in the social care context.
  • Nicklas’ work focuses on re-imagining affective relations with home care technologies.

All three projects are driven by a strong desire for collaboration, both internally and externally. Please do reach out if you see opportunities for sharing knowledge or working together with them.

On September 11th, Vasilis Galis delivered an insightful talk at Vive's (The National Research and Analysis Centre for Welfare) annual meeting, titled Policing the Crisis and the Politics of Digitalizationel. 

Also in September, the Critical Understanding of Predictive Policing (CUPP) project has reached a significant milestone with the completion of its final deliverable. The resulting ideas catalogue, crafted by PROSA in collaboration with academic partners (including ITU) is designed for non-academic audiences such as civil society groups, policymakers, and politicians. This comprehensive guide highlights crucial issues and concerns related to the digitalization of police work, covering diverse areas including traffic and border control, crime prevention, and the prediction of future crimes.

On September 19, 2024Louise Harder Fischer was featured in the article Guide: How to Get an AI Policy at Work. In the section, titled "How Do I Get My Management on Board with an AI Collective Agreement?", Louise shared insights on navigating the integration of AI in workplace policies.  

 
Some Congratulations Are in Order:
Vasilis Galis received his professorship. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and we eagerly await the inaugural lecture to celebrate this exciting milestone! 

Vasilis Galis also secured a four-year research project from Nordforsk. This project, EnJUSTICE (Transitional Environmental Justice), aims to ensure a fair and just green transition across the Nordic-Baltic region. 

Irina Papazu has received a grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark for a three-year projectthe Datafication of Wellbeing (DATAWELL): New Pedagogical Practices and Interventions in the Danish Public School. It will focus on the use of well-being measurement apps in primary schools.
 
Alena Thiel, Marie Curie Fellow at the IT University of Copenhagen, has secured an ERC Starting Grant for the five-year project, ModelFutures, which will investigate the use of statistics and digital quantification in four African welfare systems.

 
New Publications
Konstantinos Floros has a new publication: Rethinking Algorithmic Management in Minor Key: The Case of Housecleaning Platform Labour in Denmark

Safra Martinussen published her first paper, co-authored with Anna Vallgårda, titled, 
Delineating a Design Space for Premenstrual Disorders as a Relational Phenomenon
This paper was also presented at NordiCHI 2024 in Uppsala, Sweden

Cancan Wang has co-authored a discussion piece with the organizers and contributors from the 1st Conference on Sustainability and Data, titled,co-authored a paper, titled,On the Pivotal Role of Data in Sustainability Transformations.
